Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp claimed there was absolutely no chance of the Reds signing Paris-Saint Germain attacker Kylian Mbappe anytime soon.

The Reds boss shared that from a non-sporting stance that there weren’t many reasons not to sign the PSG winger, but when you consider how much he’d cost, the Frenchman wasn’t set to be Anfield bound.

“[buying] This calibre of player is difficult,” Klopp said, as relayed by Times journalist Paul Joyce on Twitter.

“I don’t see any club at the moment who can buy Kylian Mbappe from PSG. I don’t see any club. And we are involved in these clubs who cannot do it. Easy as that.

“Okay, from a sporting point of view, there are not a lot of reasons to not sign him.

“What a player he is. It is about the money of course. No chance. Absolutely, no chance. Sorry for killing that story.”

Liverpool-mad and Olympic gold medalist Samantha Quek responded to Klopp claiming there was no chance of Mbappe anytime soon, to cheekily start the “Mbappe 2021” campaign.

OPINION

Spanish outlet El Desmarque previously reported that the Reds would be able to table an appealing offer for Mbappe and the news outlet also added that Liverpool were interested in adding the attacker to their ranks, but it seems the chances of a deal happening are slim-to-none. While some Liverpool fans may argue that of course, Klopp is playing down a link to Mbappe, as he has normally been smart in the media when it comes to transfer dealings, a deal being done for Mbappe does seem incredibly unlikely as he’ll cost a ridiculous amount. After all, Mbappe is not only a World Cup-winner, not only in incredible form, but he’s still only 20-years-old. The PSG attacker has scored three goals and assisted one in his three Champions League outings this season, he started two of his appearance on the bench, and he has impressively averaged 2.7 shots per game (Source: WhoScored). Mbappe has also remarkably averaged 4.1 shots per game across his six Ligue 1 outings and has averaged 3.1 dribbles in order to reguarly bamboozle the defences of his opponents. However while Klopp has claimed a deal is no go, Quek’s tweet on the matter, just shows how Liverpool fans will continue to dream about Mbappe and will continue to cheekily claim he is Anfield-bound.
