Liverpool have been monitoring Schalke midfielder Amine Harit, according to Corriere Dello Sport

The 22-year-old Moroccan international has hit five goals and two assists in the Bundesliga so far this season, and it is understood that he could be allowed to leave the German club for as little as £17 million.

The report also states that Jurgen Klopp is hopeful that his close personal relationship with David Wagner, there former Huddersfield Town boss now at the helm for Schalke, will prove advantageous in negotiations.

OPINION

This could prove to be a tidy little deal for Liverpool, if they choose to pursue their reported interest in Harit. With five goals already this season, he is clearly a threat going forward from the heart of midfield, and you could make a solid argument for Liverpool needing that kind of player in their ranks. Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain obviously looks to be making a pretty strong claim, but a bit of depth never goes amiss. £17 million is peanuts these days, and Harit looks to be a real live wire. As well as being involved in seven goals, he has also averaged 1.8 key passes and 2.2 successful dribbles per game in the Bundesliga, as per Whoscored, proving that he is capable of being a real asset for those around him too. Klopp has a fantastic relationship with Wagner, and that could be a really good thing here.
