Sunday is getting closer and closer, and it’s getting more and more difficult to register a full night’s sleep if you’re a Liverpool fan.

Nerves are jangling as the Reds host Manchester City on Sunday, and both sides will openly acknowledge that this is the biggest game of the season to date.

For Jurgen Klopp’s men, it’s a great opportunity to open up a nine point gap at the top of the table, but a loss could be hugely damaging.

As well as slicing their lead to just three points, it could also be a sizeable psychological blow to have City rock up at Anfield and give them a bloody nose.

But at this moment in time, it’s hard to imagine that happening.

Not only are Liverpool flying, but City are also struggling for personnel at the heart of defence, as pointed out by Michael Owen in his prediction for the game.

Speaking to Bet Victor, he outlined what he believes to be the key to a Liverpool win.

He said: “City will field two of Nicolas Otamendi, John Stones and Fernandinho in the centre of their defence and it will be hard for the visitors to keep Liverpool’s front three and especially the hugely influential Sadio Mane at arm’s length.

“Anfield is sure to be rocking. The title will not be decided on Sunday, but a nine-point gap between the sides would be difficult for City to bridge given the form and ability of this Liverpool side – but nine points I expect it to be.”

Certainly, Otamendi, Fernandinho, and Stones, whichever two start, are to there to be gotten at.

Stones is only just back from injury, Fernandinho is not a central defender, and Otamendi is often a walking calamity.

Over the course of his Premier League career he has made fiver errors leading directly to goals in 120 appearances, as per the Premier League.

As a point of reference, Dejan Lovren, an emblem of disaster on Merseyside, has made 6 in 155, as per the Premier League.

As such, City will not be at their very best you would imagine, and if that’s the case, then this is Liverpool’s to throw away.
