John Aldridge has claimed that Liverpool’s title rivals in the Premier League will be freaking out over their continued form.

The former Reds’ player admitted that it was crazy to suggest that Jurgen Klopp’s men were playing badly after their 2-1 win over Crystal Palace on Sunday, but instead admired their ability to grind out late wins.

Aldridge shared that the reality of Liverpool only dropping two points all season will be scaring their closest rivals of Leicester City and Manchester City, as they kept their eight-point gap at the top.

“It sounds crazy to suggest Liverpool are playing badly when they are heading towards December and have dropped just two Premier League points all season, but that is the reality right now and it must be freaking out their title rivals,” he wrote in the Irish Independent.

Liverpool were heading for their second draw of the season until Roberto Firmino popped up with the late winner at Selhurst Park.

OPINION

No one can take away the fact that Liverpool are showing the attitude of Premier League champions every single week. No matter what appears in front of them, they don’t seem to panic, and that is what will be scaring their rivals the most – Manchester City finding out the hard way recently. The Palace game highlighted that, and it wasn’t the first time they had done that away from home with Sadio Mane also scoring a last-gasp winner against Aston Villa. Aldridge is right though, it would be crazy to suggest a team that hasn’t lost yet this season are playing badly, but that is a credit to Klopp’s side. They are nowhere near their usual selves, and when that sort of form returns at Anfield they will become virtually unstoppable in the Premier League. Liverpool will be taking it one at a time, but with their current form they surely already have one hand on their first-ever Premier League title.
