Noel Gallagher believes that if Liverpool beat Manchester City on Sunday, the Premier League title race will be finished.

The well-known City fan was realistic when admitting that his side were going into the game at Anfield with a number of injuries and that the Reds could take advantage of that.

Gallagher claimed that if Liverpool don’t win the Premier League title this season, then they could struggle to ever lift the trophy with Pep Guardiola’s side ready to push forward without all of the injuries.

“I think it’s a bigger game for Liverpool,” he said on talkSPORT.

“We’re kind of limping into that game really, we have got four or five big players out.

“If Liverpool don’t win it this season, they’ll never win it.

“If Liverpool do win, I’d be thinking it’s over.”

Liverpool can earn a nine-point gap at the top of the Premier League going into the international break should they beat their title rivals.

OPINION

Given how much of an outspoken fan Gallagher is, it will have been desperately tough for him to have admitted this. As the saying goes, the truth hurts though, and anyone will know that Liverpool will have one hand on the title should they pick up all three points on Sunday. The Reds will go nine points clear at the top and that would mean that City would need to win all of their games and Jurgen Klopp’s side would have to lose three times, we know which one is more likely. Liverpool have only lost once since the start of last season in the Premier League, and have continued their ruthless streak in this campaign, so it is hard to see who would be able to stop them outside of the Citizens. City would need to beat the Reds convincingly to try and dent their confidence, but that is hard to do to a side who just don’t know how to stop winning. Liverpool fans will love Gallagher’s verdict, with the former Oasis singer already starting to use the injuries as slight excuses.
