Liverpool forward Rhian Brewster has certainly not had the kickstart to his career at Anfield that he would have been hoping for this season.

After featuring in pre-season for the Reds, there were hopes that he could make the step up to the Premier League matchday squad regularly this season, but that has failed to materialise.

The 19-year-old has had to settle for chances in the Carabao Cup and has yet to score for the senior side despite being involved in the 5-5 draw against Arsenal recently.

That has led to the Daily Mail reporting that Brewster will be allowed to leave on loan in January with Crystal Palace, Aston Villa and Leeds all being linked with a move.

Palace boss Roy Hodgson has commented on the potential loan move on Thursday, admitting that he wouldn’t be able to give guarantees over how much playing time Brewster would receive at Selhurst Park.

“He’s a good player,” he told Sky Sports.

“I’m not 100% certain I can guarantee that he would be the first name on the teamsheet.

“He would be in competition with the three players we already have, who are experienced players.”

That isn’t the type of comment that Jurgen Klopp will be wanting to hear before potentially sending one of his brightest prospects temporarily away from the club for the second half of the season.

Brewster and the Reds would surely prefer a move to a club where he can get the senior exposure that he is crying out for in his development.

Liverpool should look elsewhere for a club to send Brewster on loan too, and that will surely catch the attention of Villa and Leeds who could offer the youngster more playing time between January and the end of the season.
