OPINION

Tuesday night saw Jurgen Klopp stick by making changes ahead of the crunch clash with Manchester City. Divock Origi, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, and Naby Keita were given chances, and Liverpool managed to scrape through their Champions League clash by the skin of their teeth winning 2-1. Origi, in particular, scored twice against Arsenal in the Carabao Cup but was still slammed by fans for the way he drifted through the game at Anfield not making much of an impact. The Belgian international was much more fired up for this one and made countless little flicks which disrupted the Genk defence, something he needs to do much more if he is to make a more lasting impression on Klopp. Origi needs to be more effective in the final third, not only scoring goals, but his general involvement in interchanges with the front three, and Liverpool fans definitely saw what he could do when given the chance on Tuesday. Many of the Reds’ faithful took to Twitter to heap praise on Origi, with one even calling his performance flawless, while another asked for him to start over Mohamed Salah against City on Sunday.
