OPINION
When Jurgen Klopp decided to name a number of youngsters in his side to face Arsenal in the Carabao Cup on Wednesday evening, the few senior options in the team will have known that they needed to step up. Divock Origi had the pressure of being in the front three alongside Rhian Brewster and Harvey Elliott, but you wouldn’t have been able to tell that he was the player who scored in the Champions League last season. The Belgian international made little to no effect in the first hour of the game, and the Reds needed much more from him in the final third. Origi did eventually step up in the second half, scoring the last two Liverpool goals, but that didn’t stop him from coming in for heavy criticism from the Reds’ faithful in the 5-5 draw. Many Liverpool fans took to Twitter to tear apart Origi for his performance, with one claiming he is still living off of that famous Champions League final goal, where another just simply called him shocking.

Origi needs to stop living off Madrid. Really poor attitude and application tonight. #LFC

Yeah that says a lot – that Brewster and Elliott look the bigger threats than Origi – a guy scoring offthebench in the UCL final just months ago.

Really poor half from Liverpool. Constant errors led to all of Arsenal’s goals. Brewster has to learn how to hold the ball up much better.
Origi has been shocking for a senior player, and you expect Ox and Keita to do much more. #LFC
