OPINION

Former Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Jamie O’Hara set Liverpool pulses racing on Friday when he claimed on talkSPORT that Manchester United midfielder Scott McTominay is better than Reds captain Jordan Henderson. This, unsurprisingly, prompted a fierce blowback from the Liverpool supporters, who were left in utter disbelief that O’Hara thinks the Scotland international is a superior player to the European champion. There’s no doubt that Henderson’s pedigree and accolades on paper make O’Hara’s claim look laughable. However, the statistics from this season actually back up what the talkSPORT pundit is saying. As per WhoScored.com, the Man United man is beating the Liverpool skipper in a host of statistical categories. He is averaging more shots, key passes and dribbles per game, while he has scored a goal more and grabbed one more assist. Furthermore, his average WhoScored rating of 7.09 is ahead of Henderson’s 6.75. The statistics are surprising, and the Liverpool fans won’t like reading them.
