OPINION

Liverpool captain Jordan Henderson adapted to a new role perfectly as the Reds eased to a 2-1 victory over Brighton & Hove Albion at Anfield. To be fair, it wasn’t exactly a new position for the England international, but we haven’t seen the 29-year-old operate as a number six for some time. Fabinho’s phenomenal form over the past year has seen Henderson move to more of a four/eight role, but he was back in front of the defence on Saturday, and he proved that he could still do it with aplomb. The Englishman had to show his defensive chops even more after goalkeeper Alisson’s sending off with ten minutes or so to go, as Jurgen Klopp’s team endured an extremely nervy ending to the game. However, you have to say that, as captain, he should have made sure his teammates were ready for Lewis Dunk’s free kick goal to put Brighton back into the game. Other than that, though, this was a fine afternoon’s work from the former Sunderland man.
