OPINION
It wasn’t the disappointing performance of Liverpool against Napoli in the 1-1 draw on Wednesday that caught the eye at Anfield. Fabinho going down injured and being forced off the field instantly got Reds’ fans fearing the worst, with the midfielder becoming an integral part of Jurgen Klopp’s side. Fabinho has averaged 2.5 tackles per game according to WhoScored – the most in the entire squad, with his influence in the heart of midfield hard to replace. Their fears became reality on Friday with Liverpool confirming on their official website that the Brazilian international had suffered ankle ligament damage against the Italians and that he would be out until January – missing the busy Christmas period. Many Liverpool fans took to Twitter to react to the update, with many distraught, claiming that this nightmare could be the end of their title challenge despite them being eight-points clear at the top – maybe an over-exaggeration.
