It wouldn’t have been too long ago that a transfer report linking Real Madrid with a swoop for a Liverpool player would have sent the Kop into meltdown. After all, the Spanish giants are traditionally one of the biggest and most fearsome sides in Europe, and as a general rule, if they set their mind to landing a player, they tend to get him. In more recent times, however, it feels as if there might have been a shift away from that usual dynamic, and with Liverpool sitting atop their throne as champions of Europe, there’s no reason to believe that any player would view a move to Spain as an upgrade anymore. And that should be a relief given that Real are supposedly interested in Andy Robertson, as per Defensa Central. The report suggests that the 25-year-old is viewed as a potential replacement for Marcelo, although it does also go on to suggest that the financial hurdles any prospective deal may encounter could be enough to derail it. In short, it doesn’t feel as if Liverpool have too much to worry about with this one, which is good given how integral Robertson now is to this Liverpool side. With a Whoscored rating of 7.28 in the Premier League so far this season he has been in magnificent form, and the prospect of him leaving is enough would be enough to get any fan concerned. Thankfully, it’s hard to see this one coming off.
