The decision to rest Georginio Wijnaldum raised the eyebrows of many Liverpool fans before kick-off, and those concerns were proved right throughout the contest. James Milner came into midfield and was off the pace for the majority of the game, often beaten to the ball by Napoli’s more dynamic options in the heart of their side. Jurgen Klopp’s decision to pick both Jordan Henderson and Milner backfired when Fabinho went off injured. Milner was nowhere near good enough on his opportunity to come back into the squad, and it will be a guarantee that Wijnaldum will come back in for the Brighton clash on Saturday afternoon in the Premier League. Many Liverpool fans took to Twitter to slam Milner for his performance in the 1-1 draw against the Italians, with one claiming that he gets away with murder just because he is one of the fittest players at Anfield.
