Liverpool plot swoop for Adeyemi

Liverpool’s transfer strategy this summer seemed to hint at a change in emphasis for the European champions.

Gone were the big money raids that saw superstars like Virgil van Dijk and Alisson Becker arrive at Anfield, and in came a greater emphasis on youth and potential, with moves for the likes of Harvey Elliott and Sepp Van Berg.

And so far, that tactic seems to be serving the Reds well.

After all, they are top of the table and unbeaten in the Premier League, and going well on the continent too.

So perhaps we will see more transfers aimed at strengthening the squad in the long term, as opposed to swoops that will empty the coffers and bolster the starting XI.

And if that is the case, then it looks as if they might have identified their next target.

According to a report from Transfermarkt, the Reds are keen on 17-year-old hitman Karim Adeyemi, who has been involved in nine goals in 11 games for Austrian side FC Liefering.

The teenager is currently on loan from parent club RB Salzburg, and has either scored or assisted a goal every 85.7 minutes, as per Transfermarkt.

That’s a wholly impressive record for a player of his age, and while some may argue that he is playing at a fairly low level, goals of any kind for a talent so young are always going to catch the eye.

The report claims that Barcelona, Arsenal, Borussia Dortmund are all interested in the youngster too, but if the Reds could pull of a deal for him, what a coup this could be.
