At the start of the season, it looked almost certain that Rhian Brewster was destined for a first team breakthrough at Anfield.

With Jurgen Klopp not bringing in any senior striking options, and with the starlet not going out on loan, it looked as if the stars were aligning to ensure that he would become a regular contributor for Liverpool this term.

Instead, however, Brewster has largely been limit to U23s action, with just the occasional Carabao Cup outing to console himself with.

As a result, it’s hardly surprising to learn that the Reds could be willing to allow him a loan exit in the January transfer window, as per Football Insider.

The teenager has immense potential, but he’s only ever going to realise that by playing senior football, and so a temporary stint away to learn his trade is a smart idea.

It also shows why it’s a good idea to keep him well away from Leeds United.

According to The Athletic, Liverpool want a “cast iron” guarantee of regular football for their prospect, and given United’s treatment of Eddie Nketiah during the first half of this season, they simply cannot give it.

The Arsenal loanee may have trailed off a little in recent weeks, but he started the campaign at a blistering pace, and has five goals in competitions so far this term.

Despite this, he has still yet to start a single Championship match, even though first choice striker Patrick Bamford put together a goalless run of 10 matches not too long ago.

Nketiah deserves better, as does Brewster, and if he is to leave Anfield this winter, it has to be for somewhere other than Elland Road.
