Former England international Gary Lineker has been left wowed by the performances of Liverpool duo Trent Alexander-Arnold and Sadio Mane against Everton on Wednesday night.

The two men were at their devastating best as the Reds beat their Merseyside rivals 5-2 to maintain their eight point advantage at the top of the Premier League table.

Lineker was very impressed by the pair: “Another Mane goal. Another @trentaa98 assist,” he wrote on his personal Twitter account.

“Trent sees everything when he has the ball. Sadio scores everything when he has the ball.”

OPINION

Alexander-Arnold was undoubtedly excellent on Wednesday night. Often times when you’re watching the right back you feel like you’re looking at Tom Brady or Peyton Manning carving open a defence in the NFL. The way he passes the ball is almost quarterback-like. However, the Everton game was the Mane show. It was no surprise that he was the only one of the Reds’ fearsome front three who survived Jurgen Klopp’s mini cull, and he showed why he was kept in the starting line-up with a phenomenal performance at Anfield. As per WhoScored.com, the Senegal international produced three shots, two key passes and a massive four successful dribbles. He also scored and claimed two assists on his way to a WhoScored rating of 9.26. This is a player operating at the peak of his powers right now, and he’s arguably the leader for PFA Player of the Year at the moment.
