Liverpool are in fierce competition with Juventus for Atalanta midfielder Dejan Kulusevski, according to FC Inter News.

The online outlet claim on their website that after scouting the 19-year-old, currently on loan at Parma, the Reds would like to complete a move before his price starts to skyrocket.

FC Inter News report that Manchester United have already offered £21.2million in the hope to sign the young Swede in January, but that is way below the £29.7million asking price.

It is suggested that Inter Milan are also keen to secure Kulusevski in January alongside the Red Devils, who plan to make their move before Liverpool do in the summer.

OPINION

Given the number of clubs lining up for the midfielder between January and the summer, Atalanta are going to have a big task on their hands to keep ahold of one of their brightest talents. Should Inter Milan and Manchester United fail to sign the 19-year-old in January, that would immediately put Juventus and Liverpool into the driving seat to secure Kulusevski. Fabinho’s injury has proved that the Reds are light in midfield, with the likes of Naby Keita struggling to make any sort of impact. Kulusevski has had a great start to this season in an attacking midfield role where he has been involved in eight goals already. The only downside would be whether or not Harry Wilson has a future at Anfield, with the Welsh international also impressing on loan at Bournemouth. Both play on the right-hand side of an attacking three in midfield, and should Wilson be in the plans of Klopp then there is really is no need for the Reds to push so hard for Kulusevski in the summer.
