A number of Liverpool fans have voiced their agreement with a tweet from The Athletic reporter James Pearce (@JamesPearceLFC) insisting that finishing the current football season should take precedence over ensuring that the 2020/21 campaign has its traditional August start.
Finishing off this season, whenever it's safe to do so, is much more important than starting next season on time.

The Premier League, along with UEFA club competitions, is currently on hold due to the global coronavirus crisis, with representatives from the top 20 clubs in England set to meet on Thursday to discuss how the remainder of the 2019/20 league season should be handled.
The likes of Karren Brady and Piers Morgan have called for the season to be voided if games cannot be played for the foreseeable future and a full league calendar can’t be completed. Other possibilities include current leaders Liverpool being declared champions if the season can’t be finished, or alternatively resuming the season at a later point and playing it into the summer months (as per Sky Sports). The postponement of Euro 2020 to next year should free up space in June and July for club fixtures if needed, which may entail a later-than-usual start to the 2020/21 club season.
These Liverpool fans on Twitter firmly agreed with Pearce’s emphatic view on the matter:
Makes sense, but most ppl lack basic reasoning, hence the call for a null and void season….

That is so obvious that I can’t even begin to understand how any one can think differently

When all the Liverpool agenda stops James hopefully common sense prevails

100% when football starts again its starts from where it finished

100% James. The season has to be concluded. Imagine the legal battles if not.
— Oliver (@OlioT20) March 17, 2020
Correct. Especially because there is no guarantee this is all over next season. Better to complete one season than no season in two years.

I agree, but I also know I’m biased, as is everyone else on this matter who supports a Premier League club or just plain hates Liverpool.

Exactly. Too complicated and too many legal challenges. Everything that has to be planned afterwards can be done so.
