A number of Liverpool fans have called on the club to dispense with Naby Keita following a damning report on the midfielder’s standing at Liverpool from Guinean media.

Foot 224 reported [via Sport Witness and @AnfieldEdition on Twitter] that the 25-year-old was not ruled out of last night’s Champions League defeat to Atletico Madrid because of injury and was instead omitted from the matchday squad purely through choice by Jurgen Klopp.

Keita, who according to Sky Sports cost Liverpool £52.75m in 2018, has played just 18 times in all competitions this season, with a mere four Premier League starts in the current campaign. He was ruled out of the recent FA Cup defeat at Chelsea due to a minor hip problem, one of numerous injuries that he has suffered in nearly two years at Anfield.

The Guinea international has scored just six goals in 51 games in total for the Reds, with three-goal spurts in quick succession in April and December of last year. These Liverpool fans on Twitter feel that it would be best for all concerned if the club moved him on in the summer, with one Kopite making a case for teenager Curtis Jones to instead step up for the first team and another thinking he should make way for Kai Havertz, who has been linked with a move to Anfield by El Desmarque this week:

Do you think Liverpool will, or should, seek to sell Keita in the summer transfer window given his apparently bleak future at the club? Share your views in the comments section below!
