A number of Liverpool fans have hit out at West Ham co-chairperson Karren Brady after she called for the current Premier League season to be declared null and void in her newspaper column (via Daily Mail). Broadcaster Des Kelly subsequently made his feelings known in response to the Conservative Party MP‘s comments, which he described as “shameless” on Twitter (via @TheDesKelly).
Shameless: ?
“The only fair and reasonable thing to do is declare the whole season null and void. A huge blow to Liverpool who might be robbed of their first title for 30 years”.
– Karren Brady, vice-chair of relegation-threatened club West Ham Utd— Des Kelly (@TheDesKelly) March 14, 2020
The Premier League is currently on hiatus after a decision was taken yesterday to postpone all matches in the competition until 4 April at the earliest in an attempt to combat the spread of coronavirus. As per Sky Sports, representatives from the 20 clubs in the division are due to hold an emergency meeting next Thursday to establish plans for the remainder of the season. According to Give Me Sport, journalist Ewan McKenna tweeted that West Ham and Tottenham had called for the current league season to be voided.
Such a decision would have massive implications on Liverpool, who are on the verge of winning a first league title in 30 years, while it would also spare Brady’s club West Ham from relegation, with the London-based club only outside the drop zone on goal difference. Unsurprisingly, these Reds fans on Twitter were fuming at her calls for the season to be scrapped:
What a muppet.

She’s a Tory. Not a shock she would say that.

This shows zero class and no integrity when LFC have a huge lead.
Would like to see the league finished, however long it takes even behind closed doors, but one of the options i’m hearing is @LFC champions and Leeds,West Brom promoted which would be as fair as you could get.— INTERNATIONAL TREBLE WINNERS 2019 ??? (@appydaze70) March 14, 2020
The premier league should just relegate them anyway after that. Have a vote between all the other teams to confirm it. It’s the only fair and reasonable thing to do

Wonder what her thoughts would be if they were in a CL position, not looking at relegation

Is she willing to refund every West Ham fan the money they’ve paid for their match day tickets?
Let’s end the season here but let’s let fans vote on teams to get relegated….
So bottom 5 teams get voted out like on Xfactor…..
I’d vote West Ham ?

Makes herself and her football club look even more embarrassing with those comments.
