Liverpool midfielder Adam Lallana is likely to be released by the club this summer once his contract expires, according to a recent report in the Liverpool Echo, prompting @AnfieldEdition on Twitter to ask followers to rate his time at Anfield out of 10.

The England international cost £25m from Southampton in 2014 (as per BBC) and he is now the second longest-serving member of the Reds’ squad after Jordan Henderson. He has played 178 times for the club, with 22 goals and 22 assists to his name, and his form peaked in 2016/17 when he struck eight goals and set up another seven.

However, a pre-season injury in 2017 heavily curtailed Lallana’s involvement for the subsequent campaign, limiting him to a solitary league start, and he has since fallen out of favour at Anfield, starting just eight Premier League matches in the past two seasons. A multitude of niggling injuries did not help his cause on Merseyside, although he can still produce occasional moments of magic such as the late equaliser he plundered at Old Trafford last October.

These Liverpool fans on Twitter had mixed views of the 31-year-old’s six years at the club, with some believing he has been a fine servant and others feeling rather underwhelmed – one Kopite said he was “no better than Joe Allen”, the Welsh midfielder who scored seven goals in 132 games for the Reds between 2012 and 2016:

Liverpool fans, what have you made of Lallana’s contribution to the club since 2014 and do you think he will be missed if, as seems likely, he moves on in the summer? Have your say by commenting below!
