In the absence of Premier League football due to a coronavirus-enforced postponement of the season, many Liverpool fans instead derived enjoyment from footage of a former Reds player’s offspring that was shared on social media.
Lucas Leiva’s son Pedro celebrates his ninth birthday today and, to mark the occasion, @TheAnfieldWrap on Twitter posted a video of the youngster (wearing Roberto Firmino’s name on the back of his shirt) unreservedly celebrating at the final whistle of last year’s Champions League final, in which his father’s former club beat Tottenham 2-0.

Lucas, who is now 33 and plays for Lazio, came to Liverpool in 2007 and, despite facing criticism from some fans in his early years at Anfield, he would spend a decade at the club. The Brazil midfielder clocked up 346 Reds appearances and won a League Cup medal in 2012 before departing for Rome three years ago. At the end of his time on Merseyside, Liverpool presented him with a Special Recognition Award for his 10 years of service to the club.
These Reds fans on Twitter loved the clip of young Pedro celebrating last year’s European glory:
