The Premier League, FA, Football League and Women’s Super League have today collectively decided to postpone all fixtures under their jurisdiction until 4 April at the earliest, with fixtures due to have been played between now and then set to be rescheduled. [via premierleague.com]

If the coronavirus crisis subsides to a sufficient degree that football in England is not postponed any further than that date, it would mean that Liverpool’s next fixture would be away to Manchester City on 5 April – which presents the opportunity for the Reds to secure the Premier League title that day.

The Reds are currently 25 points clear of the defending champions and, as things stand, need six more points to ensure the title. Should they win at the Etihad Stadium on that date, though, it would extend their lead to 28 points with their hosts only able to claim a maximum of 27, thus confirming Jurgen Klopp’s team as champions. Having lost 2-1 at Manchester City last season, their only league defeat and one which ultimately cost them the title as they finished in second just a point behind Pep Guardiola’s team, these Liverpool fans on Twitter were licking their lips at the prospect, as things stand, of wrestling the crown from the champions’ grasp in their own backyard:

Liverpool fans, how sweet would it be to win the league by beating Manchester City on their own turf? Do you think that match is likely to go ahead on 5 April as currently planned? Share your views in the comments section below!
