A number of Liverpool fans have hit out at Ajax winger Dusan Tadic over a “pointless statement” he made in relation to the Reds, with one Kopite dismissing him as a “Premier League reject“.
In an interview with B92 (translated by @LFCTransferRoom), the ex-Southampton man claimed that the Dutch side would have beaten Liverpool had they rather than Tottenham faced Jurgen Klopp’s side in last season’s Champions League final, with the comments shared by @AnfieldWatch on Twitter.

Tadic told B92 [via @LFCTransferRoom]: “If Ajax had gotten what they deserve against Tottenham, we would’ve defeated Liverpool in the final. We would’ve not played as badly as Tottenham, and we would’ve been much more inspired than Liverpool, their defence wouldn’t have been able to cope against us.”
While Liverpool overturned a 3-0 semi-final first leg deficit against Barcelona to win 4-0 at Anfield, Tadic’s Ajax were on the wrong end of a dramatic comeback against Spurs in the other semi-final. The Eredivisie outfit brought a 1-0 lead back to Amsterdam with them and led 2-0 at half-time in the second leg, only for a Lucas Moura hat-trick (with the winner coming in the 96th minute) to take Tottenham through to the Madrid showpiece, in which Liverpool triumphed 2-0 to win their sixth European Cup.
The Serbian winger spent four years at Southampton before joining Ajax in 2018, scoring 24 goals in 162 games for the Saints, and his comments did not go down well with these Liverpool fans on Twitter:
