A number of Liverpool fans have ripped into “deluded” former Sky Sports anchor Richard Keys over a claim he made in his blog stating that Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane “deeply dislike” each other.

Writing on richardajkeys.com, the sports presenter believes that there is a mutual animosity between the Reds’ African forward duo and he reckons that they will both leave Anfield this summer. His comments on the pair drew a less than agreeable reaction from Liverpool-focused Twitter channel @empireofthekop.

Salah and Mane are the Reds’ top two scorers this season with 20 and 18 goals respectively, with the former scoring 91 times in 143 Liverpool games and the latter netting 77 times in 160 appearances for the Reds.

The pair appeared to clash during the 3-0 win at Burnley last August when, at one point, Salah took a shot himself despite Mane being better placed to score. When the latter was substituted, he made several angry gestures and clearly looked disgruntled (as per talkSPORT). However, he later told Canal Plus (via talkSPORT) that Salah simply claimed not to have spotted him in that moment and added that the two players “don’t have a problem” with each other.

These Liverpool fans on Twitter promptly dismissed Keys’ allegation of a rift between the two forwards, with one Kopite describing him as “the Katie Hopkins of punditry” in a reference to someone who The Irish Times called a “controversial newspaper columnist”:

Liverpool fans, were you angered by Keys’ claims of a rift between Salah and Mane or did you just dismiss it out of hand? Let us know what you think in the comments section below!
