Plenty of Liverpool fans have been reacting to a video clip shared by the club’s official Twitter channel @LFC this morning showing a Mohamed Salah goal from 2018.
The clip features the Egyptian’s strike against Bournemouth at Anfield from two seasons ago, with the Reds posting a ‘Throwback Thursday’ video ahead of the Cherries’ visit to Merseyside on Saturday lunchtime. On that day in April 2018, Salah neatly steered a header over Asmir Begovic and into the net following a pinpoint delivery from Trent Alexander-Arnold for his 40th goal of the 2017/18 season and Liverpool’s second in a 3-0 victory (as per BBC).
Superb @trentaa98 assist ?
Brilliant @MoSalah finish ??#ThrowbackThursday to a class goal against this weekend's opponents ? pic.twitter.com/oCyB4aSHZu— Liverpool FC (@LFC) March 5, 2020
That goal came at a time when Salah and Liverpool were on a high, with the Egyptian reaching 30 Premier League goals for the season just days after the Reds beat Manchester City to reach the Champions League semi-finals (as per BBC), but neither player nor club are in the finest fettle going into the match against Bournemouth this weekend. Jurgen Klopp’s side have lost three of their last four games while the 27-year-old has scored just once in his last five appearances.
Unsurprisingly, these Liverpool fans were feeling somewhat wistful after seeing the footage from 2018 and yearn for a repeat on Saturday:
Can you play like this?

This is what we are currently missing a bit of creativity.

Shame we can’t go back to when Salah scored goals and Trent put in a cross that didn’t go blazing into the crowd or other side of the ground.
