Many Liverpool fans have expressed their desire to see “ball playing” centre-back Ben White at Anfield as a successor to Dejan Lovren, who has been tipped to leave the club in the summer.

The Athletic reporter James Pearce recently claimed on Twitter (@JamesPearceLFC, via @AnfieldEdition) that the Reds would be open to selling the Croatian for £15m this year, with the Daily Mail claiming this week that no fewer than four London-based clubs are keen on the 30-year-old.

LFC Transfer Room on Twitter (@LFCTransferRoom) asked followers which players they would sign if given a realistic choice of one each from Europe’s top five leagues (as per UEFA’s association club coefficient) and the English Championship. White, on loan at second-tier Leeds from Brighton, was the choice of many for the latter division.

The 22-year-old has already been monitored by Liverpool, according to Sky Sports, and Paul Robinson told Football Insider that the Reds are looking at him. He has shown his composure on the ball with a passing success rate of 85.3% this season and the completion of 0.6 dribbles per game, an average which is double that of Anfield centre-backs Joel Matip and Joe Gomez and far superior to the 0.1 per game averages for Lovren and Virgil van Dijk.

These Liverpool fans on Twitter all stated their desire to have White at Anfield, with one Kopite dubbing him as a “Lovren replacement“:

Liverpool fans, do you think White would be a good acquisition if the Reds were to follow through on their reported interest in him? Comment below with your views!
