Reliable journalist Fabrizio Romano has claimed Liverpool midfielder Gini Wijnaldum is weighing up numerous options for this summer, including the possibility of a Premier League move.

This summer sees the end of the Dutchman’s contract at Anfield and at this stage, it seems as though the club are no closer to a resolution.

With well-documented interest from Inter Milan and Barcelona, Romano told his Here We Go podcast it’s not just on the continent where the potential suitors are coming from:

”There is still no agreement. The last proposal from Liverpool was at the start of December and there was no agreement with Wijnaldum. He is looking at other options, not only in the Premier League, but also in other countries – let’s see what happens.”

Romano went on to confirm no agreement had been reached between Wijnaldum and another club, including the Reds, who have been trying to negotiate a new deal with the 30-year-old for ‘one year’.

Despite what seems his impending departure, the 70-cap Holland star has perhaps held a more important role than ever in the Liverpool squad, appearing in a staggering 39 matches this season already.

L4L’s VIEW

Losing Wijnaldum to a European club at the end of the season would be just about palatable.

To lose the Dutch ace for free to a domestic rival, however, would be hard to take.

Having created a bond with the football club and playing an integral part in Jurgen Klopp’s reign since arriving from Newcastle, Wijnaldum would surely be reticent to leave under a cloud and as such may opt for a foreign switch.
