Liverpool are expected to make a move to sign Fluminense midfielder Andre “in the next few days”, according to a new transfer update.

The 22-year-old has been linked with a move to Anfield this summer in recent days, emerging as a potential option to fill the void left by Fabinho and Jordan Henderson.

Romeo Lavia is also seen as a primary target for Liverpool, with a third bid for him potentially imminent, but they cannot afford to sign only one midfielder in the remainder of the transfer window, in terms of squad depth.

Now, a new update has emerged regarding the Reds’ interest in Andre, who has made 145 appearances for Fluminense, scoring and assisting three times apiece for them.

According to Gazeta Esportiva [via Sport Witness], Liverpool have informed the Brazilian side that an offer for the youngster is coming their way “in the next few days”.

A €25m (£21.5m) big is mooted in the report, but it remains to be seen if Fluminense accept it. Andre himself likes the idea of moving to Merseyside, and the Reds feel like they are “closer to achieving a happy ending” with the midfielder.

That being said, his club want to keep hold of the Brazil international until January, rather than losing him now, which is halfway through the season in South America.

Our thoughts on the latest Andre to Liverpool update…

It is pleasing to hear that an offer is seemingly on its way for Andre, with Liverpool stalling a little in the transfer market in recent weeks, failing to get any incoming business done after the earlier arrivals of Alexis Mac Allister and Dominik Szoboszlai.

While the midfielder isn’t particularly well-known outside of his homeland, he is a tenacious and intelligent defensive midfielder with lots of long-term promise, having already represented Brazil, surely adding to his solitary cap in the future.

Liverpool must ensure that they sign both Andre and Lavia, however, ensuring that Jurgen Klopp had the No.6 position well-stocked next season and well into the future.

There isn’t a single expert in that role at the club currently – Curtis Jones has been playing there in pre-season – and it has to be strongly addressed before the 2023/24 Premier League campaign gets started.
