According to TEAMtalk, Liverpool will consider a move for Paris Saint-Germain star Kylian Mbappe if they can get a lucrative offer for Mohamed Salah at the end of the season, but will need to compete with Real Madrid.
The Reds are in the process of rebuilding their squad for success as the majority of Jurgen Klopp’s infamous Champions League and Premier League winning side have parted ways at one point or another in the last two summers.
Indeed, huge influences like Trent Alexander-Arnold, Andrew Robertson, Mohamed Salah and Virgil van Dijk still remain integral leaders at the club, and keep the winning mentality alive in the dressing room as new additions stake their claim to become the next generation of trophy-lifters at Anfield.
As it stands, Joel Matip and Thiago Alcantara are coming into the final six months of their contracts at the club, whilst Van Dijk and Mohamed Salah are coming to the latter stages of their career, meaning there remains an urgency as to who will become the future of some of the most important roles at the club going forward.
Now it is being reported, once again, that Liverpool are considering a move for one of the biggest superstars in sport, let alone football, as Kylian Mbappe has his name linked to the red side of Merseyside once again.
TEAMtalk claim that they can exclusively reveal that the Reds will compete with European rivals Real Madrid for the signature of Mbappe should Salah command a huge transfer offer like the one we saw in the summer from Saudi Arabia.
Will Liverpool sign Kylian Mbappe?
Links to the World Cup winner are nothing new to Liverpool supporters and although optimistic, the reality of what kind of deal it would take to snap up Mbappe services seems more like a farfetched fairytale instead of a possible reality for the majority.
Having said that, it was claimed that Saudi Pro club Al-Ittihad had offered £200m to secure Salah’s services just a few months ago, so it would be interesting to see if Liverpool would be tempted to accept an offer which could then provide the funds to bring in Mbappe.
Although the links between the club and Mbappe are long established, the impressive Frenchman currently earns a whopping £1.2m-per-week at Paris Saint-Germain, a salary that would completely shatter FSG’s strict structure at present, something they have always been hugely reluctant to break.
With that being said, there are definitely areas of focus in the squad that are requiring of investment more imminently and although Mbappe would be the dream replacement for Salah, it doesn’t seem like the numbers from a financial perspective would be viable under the FSG model at present.
