West Ham may have made a mistake when they signed ‘Mad’ Marco Boogers from Sparta Rotterdam for £1m in July 1995. He promptly disappeared, discovered a few weeks later hiding away in a mobile home in a Dutch caravan park. His time in England ended with a loan deal and subsequent free transfer to Groningen and with him declaring to the world ‘I’m not mental’. Many would disagree Marco.
