Asking Price drops £4m for Reds Target?

|

The Daily Mail is reporting that Blackpool have lowered the asking price for their captain Charlie Adam by £4m from £12million to £8million. The relegation of Ian Holloway’s side to the Championship has led to the price being reduced from January and, according to the paper, Liverpool, Tottenham, Manchester United and Aston Villa are all said to be interested in buying the Seasider’s captain.

This week it is former LFC WAG Gisela Molinero!

  • Blindside says:

Still don’t believe he is what we need/want at this time.

    • Mike says:

We need quality in depth. He will offer that. Either sitting on the bench or playing and let Lucas, Meireles or Gerrard sit on the bench

  • JK says:

Will be excellent addition to the squad but we will get for more round the 5 mark due to the fact they now will sell and his contract is nearly up.

Second only to nani in the points scored by a midfielder on stats.

  • Joe says:

Yeah, he does score a lot of penalties tho dont forget! I do think he’s class, but then again, sometimes i think it’s not too difficult to look class in a blackpool side, would that be able to be transferred into our new ‘pass and move’ ethos?

    • Jay Wright says:

Kuyt scores a lot of goals too. And besides Suarez, who “consistently” looked class in our team this season?

Blackpool played more pass and move football than we did this season. Even after all that though, I’d prefer we looked elsewhere. The only reason to take on Adam would be to replace Aquilani & Meireles, and I just don’t think it is a priority. Pace and power is needed much more than another ‘ball mover’ in central midfield

  • Callaghan says:

I honestly don’t think Adam is what we need even if he was on a free. As pointed out, he gained his stats from taking set pieces/penalties and we have players queueing up to take those Suarez, SG, Mereiles, Kuyt even Johnson and Aurelio.

Compared to what we’ve already got in centre mid – SG, Mereiles & Lucas with young Spearing and Shelvey on the bench I just don’t see the point and I’d rather the money, if it is £8m was used toward wide players.

  • Mick says:

Adam is a better player than Lucas, Spearing and Shelvey and would be pushing Meireles for a start along side SG

    • Livmad says:

Agreed, Adam is so much better than Lucas, Spearing and Shelvey. However, he would be pushing SG. Meireles is definitely our first IX.

      • Real Holiday Reports says:

We all must watch different games.

Meireles wil score 5 or 6 spectacular goals a season & that will be it.

He pulls out of every tackle going, something you can’t do in the prem, and he’s a ‘Homer’ i,e doesn’t want to know away from home.

        He drives me mad
Adams…no more then 5 mill max

AND Lucas….Best midfielder we’ve got you noddys!

        • Jay Wright says:

@Real Holidays – I agree with you on Meireles; he is being severely overrated because of his goalscoring potential, which is pretty funny considering our fans have spent years trashing Lampard who scored (and assisted) a lot more goals every season.

Gerrard is still easily our best central midfielder though. And Adam is better than the rest of the lot that we’ve got at the moment (not including Aquilani in that list…)

  • nico says:

I DONT THINK HE IS LIVERPOOL MATERIAL. ID RATHER SEE DIEGO UP THERE

  • jonny says:

dont see him as a first team player and he left rangers because he was’nt a first team player so this transfer could end up with a complaining player

  • Callaghan says:

    @ Mick

That’s fair enough and many will agree with you but afaik Lucas, Spearing & Shelvey are at least 3 years younger. Unless Meireles (excuse my earlier spelling), Gerrard and Lucas were all out injured at once I think we’re covered, especially as the team won’t be off to deepest, darkest Russia every other Thursday next season.

The impact someone like Adam would have on our squad, for the price touted, and what we already have in stock surely can’t appeal to our management or FSG guidelines?

If like Steve Clarke says, we’re going to be getting three key players; I’d be disappointed if one of them were to be Adam.

  • Andy says:

sorry £8 million stop making me laugh. According to the KOP they accepted £6.7 million in Jan from Spurs. Since then three things have happened Blackpool got relegated his form dipped sharply, and he now has only 12 months left on his contract. I never believed he was Liverpool quality but KK is the boss. Finally Mick open your eyes Lucas has been voted LFC player of the year despite doing a job which is vastly undervalued, Adam is not in his league.

  • am not yet still believe in kenny about the players he wanted to bring in to lfc,pls we need players like DIEGO and AGUEIRO and J.NARVAS.and pls imform keeny not bring FRIEDEL of 40yrs to lfc we need the keeper of SHAY GIVEN.

  • nigel says:

lfc need a left back, centre back, wingers minimum. Aly cissoko, enrique, baines, emilio izaguirre celtic left back. One of those. Sakho, hummels, subotic, roger johnson, scott dann, phil jones, shawcross. At least one of those. Elia, jovetic, mata, young, marc albrighton, shaqiri. Most of these!

  • wazio says:

He sure knows how to pick a pass

  • hadi lfc fan says:

    who is he!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!????????????? nooooooooooooooo thanks

  • Shank B says:

I think Adam would be fantastic signing. He is a fighter and a leader.. he is very good player too.

That kind of players wins matches and cups.

Ofcourse he would be a squad player at first, but lets say mereiles gets injured we have him as a great back up.

Forget Diego we dont need him.. i would rather have Aquillani back.

  • Iceland Red says:

Adams is class in my opinion! If we need him, Kenny will go after him, if we don’t, he won’t!

  • zahid says:

The relagation of Blackpool has meant its trigerd a 12 month extension on Adams contract which was a clause in his contract the club put after they won the play off last season and came up, this doesn’t mean hes going to stay but means Blkpool can ask for a greater fee a fee he isn’t worth in my opinion 5-6 mill max it should be no more……YNWA……JFT96
