Two wins are vital, considering what comes next

|

After earning seven points from our first three games of the season, optimism was high at Anfield. Everybody sat up and noticed Liverpool. Everybody started to understand that Liverpool FC were up for the challenge. Suddenly, after two defeats in two, that optimism has turned into despair.

Of course, the season is still in its infancy, and nobody is suggesting that our campaign is now worthless. There’s still everything to play for. However, the previous two games have been a massive kick in the teeth for everybody associated with the club.

Stoke was unfortunate. Spurs was unwatchable. At the Britannia, we bossed the game from start to finish and had numerous chances to score. As the saying goes, it was ‘one of those days’. It didn’t help our pursuit of three points that the referee didn’t feel as though he wanted to give Liverpool anything, a reoccurring theme of our season so far. As for our visit to White Hart Lane, the less said about that the better. We were never in the game. I don’t think half the players even left the dressing room. Too many mistakes, too little possession and two questionable dismissals. Says it all really, the game never looked in doubt for Harry Redknapp’s men.

Onwards and upwards, let’s all look ahead together. We can’t change what’s happened, but we can support the team to improve what can happen in future. Starting with Brighton tonight. It will be interesting to see what sort of team Kenny Dalglish puts out. Especially considering our hunger for silverware and our desire to see a trophy come home to Liverpool. I am in no doubt whatsoever that Kenny shares our view, and will keep the team strong enough to see off an impressive Brighton side.

Once we face Brighton, we move onto a home game against Wolves on Saturday afternoon. Must win is an understatement. It’s a game, you may remember, we lost last season, in humiliating fashion. It’s safe to say our squad has come on leaps and bounds since those days and it is the sort of game that will not be easy, but should be won.

I agree that we need expierenced/leader(S)! around the younger players that came in this season but I still think we need more than just an injury prone stevie to change our fortunes.
