As our Captain Fantastic wins his 99th cap this evening, England will be hoping to put Poland to the sword at the Stadion Narowody, and the returning England captain is likely to give the side the shot in the arm it needs to take on much sterner opposition.

Hodgson will be looking to bring a number of more senior players back in against England’s toughest opponents yet, and Liverpool right-back, Glen Johnson, is also likely to slip straight back into the side, with the likes of Kyle Walker and the injured Theo Walcott likely to make way for more more experienced counterparts.  Liverpool youngster, Jonjo Shelvey, is likely to retain his place on the bench.

Following their hugely disappointing draw away to Moldova last week, England’s other main opponents for top-spot, Ukraine, take on an in-form Montenegro, giving England a massive chance to take complete control of group H with a win away against the Poles.

Whilst Gerrard was a class player in 2005 his star has now fallen. His Up & At em, long Hollywoos ball style is not conducive to the modern possession style played at club and international.
