Is Leandro Damiao ‘Plan C’ for the Reds?

BrazilLIVERPOOL FC may have to re-think their transfer plans again this summer according to The Mirror.

The Reds are having to make more contingency plans in case Arsenal come back in with a bid in excess of £50 million pounds for Luis Suarez and if Tottenham Hotspur manage to beat them to the signing of Brazilian attacking midfielder Willian from Anzhi Makhachkala.

There are concerns at Anfield that if they fail to land Willian, after the failed bids for Diego Costa and Henrikh Mkhitaryan then they will have missed out on all their targets for a ‘Marquee Signing”.

For that reason Liverpool have drawn up yet more names of players and one of those is Brazilian striker Leandro Damiao.

The 24 year old Brazilian is a long time target of Tottenham Hotspur but with the London club just buying Roberto Soldada from Valencia it would appear a move for another striker would be unlikely.

Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers is convinced Leandro Damiao has enough quality to come into the Barclays Premier League and score goals, and with the player looking to move to Europe this summer then the time could be right for the Reds to make their move.

I am getting really worried now. So far this season we have not spent a penny. Fact we have made a net profit. Why are we failing to get Henrikh and Diego Cost (Who by the way scored twice in the weekend)? Even Willian is stuttering? Who is responsible for sorting these deals out? Is it Ayre, Henrry etc…

Transfer window deadline is less than two weeks away. Somebody needs a kick up the backside? or is it that they are being tight like wenger? Are we biiding the amount specualted in papers or is it less than that?

    Does anyone know.

its just not so good when spurs tries to buy every player liverpool has identified but i think d major problem is the board who dont want to spend money on these main targets…I mean if they were serious enough the willian deal wud have bn done n dusted by now but lets just hope that it can still be wrapped up.

Well, it seems to be Spurs. They’re favourites to get Willian from what I’ve heard. Should be decided in the next couple of days. This cooment is from a Russian Journalist.

Another one weve missed out on.

  • Raam says:

Anzhi valued him at £30m, and LFC even offered Willian £110k per week and 50% above the puchased price of resale if he was to sold in future. Everything was agreed. But the greedy Russians took £35m from Spurs. And the deal was closed. This is of cause if the reports are true. For once i’m with LFC in this matter. Just because we are interested doesnt mean we have to pay above the agreed price.

Spurs are on yhe verge of signong william and lamela.

There is a problem here. Its not because I think Willian can win games for us, but its because we keep losing races to sign players. It shows there is a problem in the front office. The American does not know how to shop for players then he should not cheap out on the money he is allowing lfc to spend. Losing 3 out of 3 is alarming.

  • Denis D says:

At the end of the day,

FSG need to spend £38M on these 3 attacking players, now that we have lost out on Willian to Tottenham.

These 3 attacking players will bring class, creativity, excitement goals, pace and speed to the side:
1: AM: I Munian(20) Of A Bilbao for £10-£15M to compete with Alberto and Coutinho
2: RW / RWF: J Montero(23) Of Monarcas Morelia in Mexico for £3-£7M to compete with Sterling
3: LW / LWF: B Arfa(26) Of Newcastle for £12-£17M to compete with Aspas and IBE

These three attacking players would bring more class and quaility than Willian would have brought to club.

  • Raam says:

If it is confirmed that Willian is going to Spurs than everyone at LFC including fans should shut up and concentrate on Damiao and Turan quickly. Either one of them or better if both. AVB has £80m to spend so now he is after every player available.

  • allaboutanfield says:

I wonder why Liverpool don’t go for Christian Eriksen ?

  • Raam says:

If reports are true that Spurs stalled Lamela move, i am sure it is because AVB came to know we are after Damiao. Now i wont be suprised if he wants Damiao instead of Lamela.
