New Inter Milan manager Frank De Boer is looking into the possibility of signing Lucas Leiva from Liverpool, according to Gazzamercato.it.
The Dutchman replaced Roberto Mancini in the hot seat at the Italian giants earlier this month and has lost no time in looking for new additions to the Serie A side’s squad. The signing of Joao Mario from Sporting Lisbon is close to being finalised but De Boer is keen on signing a new central midfielder as well with a specific profile.
Currently Wolfsburg’s Luiz Gustavo is the front runner but Inter are also looking at alternatives with Liverpool’s Lucas and Marseille’s Lassana Diarra being the other possible targets.
Now owned by the Chinese consortium Suning, Inter don’t seem to be rolling in money though despite the impending arrival of Joao Mario. Gazzamercato believe that rumoured Liverpool target Marcelo Brozovic or possibly his fellow countryman Ivan Perisic could leave to fund new signings.
