Eccleston Match Report vs Hartlepool

|

nathan_eccleston 4Nathan Eccleston once again started on the bench as Huddersfield Town streched their run in the league to nine games unbeaten. With such a rich vein in form and with every player impressing, Eccleston is going to have to bide his time to get starting opportunities. In a battling performance from the Terriers, they ground out a 2-0 victory at struggling Hartlepool with goals from Gary Roberts and Lee Novak.  The game got off to a fantastic start for Huddersfield as they were awarded a penalty on 14 minutes. Striker Jordan Rhodes was tripped by keeper Scott Flinders and Roberts slotted the penalty home to get his sixth goal of the season. Half way through the second half, the Terriers doubled their lead with in form Novak on the scoresheet again. After his  initial corner was cleared by the Hartlepool defence, Roberts delivered a pin point near post cross for Novak to head home. It was former non-league player Novak’s tenth goal of the season and with him in such sparkling form, Eccleston will find it difficult to get a starting berth up front. The 19 year old did get a run out in this match as he came on as a 78th minute substitute for winger Gary Roberts . It is not the position he will want to play in and he will find it very difficult to impress in his time on loan if he is continually used as a late substitute on the wing.
