Eccleston Match Report vs Carlisle

|

6763086Nathan Eccleston made a late appearance from the subs bench as Huddersfield Town got a good away win against in-form Carlisle. The Terriers now lie seventh in the table as they look to gain promotion from League One and such a performance at Brunton Park will only strengthen their claims for a play-off place. Liverpool loanee Eccleston will be disappointed of such a short run out but he will have to do a great deal to dislodge both Lee Novak and Jordan Rhodes who both scored vital goals in this match. Rhodes joined Huddersfield in the summer and has proceeded to score 17 goals in 31 appearances while Novak has scored nine goals this term. Such a good strike partnership will make it very hard for manager Lee Clark to break up and such a showing like the Carlisle game while only reduce Eccleston’s chances of starting. After Novak slid the ball home after 6 minutes, Rhodes made it 2-0 early on in the second half when he headed a Gary Roberts right wing corner past the goalkeeper. Eccleston came on for the last three minutes for Gary Roberts and played out of position on the left hand side of midfield. He worked hard as the Terriers tried to close out the game. Joe Anyinsah got a goal back late on to make the score 2-1 but it was not enough as Huddersfield continued their recent good form. Eccleston may have to be patient and wait for his chance to impress.
