LFC Youth Watch: Michael Ngoo Mini-Derby Match Report

|

michael_ngoo9th Mar – Liverpool 4 – 3 Everton (Premier Academy League) – Despite the high score line, striker Michael Ngoo wasn’t on the scoresheet as Liverpool Under 18s came from 2-0 down to win 4-3 in a dramatic Mini-Derby. The highlight of the match was a debut goal for Raheem Sterling but it was a team performance which saw goals from Krisztian Adorjan and two penalties from Michael Roberts and Craig Roddan. The game turned on Everton Shane Duffy’s sending off one minute into the second half and striker Ngoo contributed to the dramatic second half turnaround, although he was substituted on 76 minutes for Kristjan Gauti Emilsson. Coach Rodolfo Borrell felt such performances showed that the Academy was making progress since his arrival:

“It is a nice victory for me, but especially for the fans and the club. I am also happy for Rafael Benitez, as he invests a lot of time in the club and the Academy. He made a bold move to bring me and the rest of my staff to Liverpool, so it’s nice to be able to win this sort of match for him.”

Certainly performances have picked up in the last month and the Academy side is unbeaten in the last four matches. Ngoo and the rest of the team will hope they can push on for the rest of the season to finish in a respectable league position.
