Have Spurs beaten the Reds to Arda?

|

Turkish radio station Radyospor is reporting that Tottenham Hotspur have agreed in principal to sign Arda Turan from Galatasaray. The Turkish left winger has reportedly been a long term target for Rafa Benitez and Liverpool but Harry Redknapp appears to have beaten the Reds to his signature by offering Giovani Dos Santos and €5million in exchange for the services of the Turkish international. The 23 year old has been a star at every level for Turkey and has 34 caps for his country since making his debut in 2006. He has been at Galatasaray since the age of 12 making his way through the clubs youth ranks before being loaned out to Manisaspor and returning to become one of the star players in the Turkish club’s side.

so they are paying a total of £6.5 million for turan then, considering dos santos is probably worth no more than 3 million euro himself, plus 5 million euros in cash. are you having a laugh? turan is worth £14 – £15 million of anyones money at least. please keep it real or find a better story.

Can’t afford to lose his caliber of player to the likes for Spurs. He is affordable to us and has stated his desire to play for us already. That and his abvious talent makes him almost perfect for us.

Galatasaray will value Ardan in the £17-20m bracket but with his desire to play for Liverpool your still looking at £15m+.
Excellent player 2 footed and a great attitude and can imo play anywhere in the 3 behind Torres for us..

Hope its not one that slips through the net again.

I’m not sure why the other LFC fans are raving about Arda. I’m not saying he does’nt look good, but he’s only played in a very weak league. Give me one top class signing like Krasic, who has proved in the Champions League, destroying ManU’s defence, that he’s quality, over another Rafa gamble. It’s always worth paying 5-6m more for proven quality, even if we have to sell dead-wood to do it.

Perhaps you have made a mistake ref the fee. Isn’t it to be in GreenShield stamps????

    Phill,

The Turkish league is much harder then you think. I follow it with my Turkish buddy just to watch this Arda. He’s out form the last weeks, but is still a great player. He is so much better then Babel or Benayoun. Krasic is a attacker, Arda is more of a player that gives assits, like Di Maria. You can’t compare it.

Outside that, this guy destroyed us in 2006 when he was 19. He deciminated Ramos in Turkey vs Spain game.

The Turkish league is not as good as ours, but it’s for example much better then the Dutch league. We bought players like Kuyt and Babel from there and Arda is coming from a better league. These guys play very physical and technical, but sometimes lack tactical ability. Arda is not the biggest guy, but very very tough.

Plus he’s also played in the champions league, against us for god sake!!!!!!

phil, which tree would we pluck the £4-5 million more off when we haven’t got a pot to piss in. the yanks have not given rafa the go ahead to use the money he brings in from selling the so called dead wood. we are in the same boat as last year.

  • samuel charles says:

this guy is great, has it all, if we can not go for mata.. silva ,,,, then arda has to be the one,,, will you f***ing spend your yankie con men,,,,spend some money you con men or go back to that piss*** place
