Is Sheikh Al Maktoum closing in on Liverpool buyout?

|

The Sunday Express is reporting that Dubai International Capital are close to sealing a £500million takeover of Liverpool Football Club. DIC, attempted to buy the club in 2007 and again tried to buy George Gillett’s 50% share in 2008, but, according to the paper, this time could be the real deal as Gillett and Tom Hicks look to sell the club this summer. DIC, is the investment of arm of the rulling family of Dubai, and Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum is prepared to invest heavily in the club. According to the Express, DIC are ready to commit funds to build the Red’s new stadium and are prepared to give the manager a large amount to spend on transfers.

Got disappointed with the Yanks, don’t know whether to trust Middle-East rulers. Money can buy us good players, but not success. Having said that, Man City is progressing with the likes of Tevez, Barry, Adebayor, etc. Desparate to see Gerrard winning a Premiership title in a Red shirt.

whoever takes over, has a big job on there hands. i hope its done asp, and with people who want to make lfc great again.so while the mancs talk about no 19, we will talk about no 29………

is it dic… or the syrian, or was it the chinese no wait a minute its the indian, no its the kuwaity… no an american consortium. no it can’t be its maktoum. or could it be…

  • Mike says:

Two ways to look at this. As mentioned before someone is going to have to put in nearly £1bn to turn the club around, even DIC wouldn’t part with that kind of money with no guarantee of success no-one would. Secondly all this talk of buying good players and you forget that there is no champions league to play for, it’s a step down for most of the players you want and unless Liverpool are given a stadium for free(!) you’ll never be able to afford their wages.

  • Gazabo says:

If DIC take over the Reds, then I welcome that as superb. They should of taken over years ago and we would not be in this mess with 2 yanks who have no idea or passion about the greatest football team in the world.
My message to DIC is clear and precise. Come to us and you will not be disappointed. With your ownership, you will make us not only the greatest but also the team that everyone will fear.

  • CJ says:

Dubai has financial problem now. They need to borrow money from Abu Dhabi. Both Dubai and Abu Dhabi has their own Ruler.

Seems unlikely for DIC as they have massive problem with their Dubai World project.

  • NMC says:

DIC are a technology based investment Corp – not a sugar daddy. It was unusual for them to look at a Football club and I doubt they will coming knocking again – Rick Parry blew it! As for Abu Dhabi and the Sheikh that own Man City they are on a different planet financially to Dubai – in fact short term they have bailed Dubai out. I think DIC are still lucrative but they will be looking to make money not pour money into LFC for no return.

Who will save us? Please, DIC, please! The ones that come and save us will be adored by millions of people. A nice role to play?

  • Rafathegaffer says:

What is interesting is that someone actually read the express and decide to place an article on the net talking about this so called “exclusive”. What is more interesting is that there are people actually reading this ludicrous article about an article from this paper and posting comments. Wait a minute I think I may have done the same. Doh!

Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan married Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum daughter in other words he is his son-in-law,i cant see it happening to be honest

  • Danny says:

Fv€K1ng dream on, lads. The bottom fell out of Dubai last year, they have no money. No-one is gonna pony up £500M to buy us then have spare change to fund a stadium better than that corrugated iron shed Goodison, let alone Anfield, and forget about Getting any more than £20M. If that.

  • We need the the deal for the club done ASAP.

I’d be surprised if it’s not already in place.

There’s only one man for the job and that’s Mourinho.

  • m kop says:

I’ve been reading the same thing for years now in regular intervals: “DIC is buying Liverpool FC”, “DIC is ready to make a bid to buy Liverpool from the American’s” and now “DIC are close to sealing a £500million takeover of Liverpool FC”.

I dont even know if the company exists any more, but I think that Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum(copy-paste) is really inerested in buying Liverpool FC.

His family- and other relations with Man.City owners wouldn’t stop him from investing.
Ruling familyes in UAE are rivals in many things, so way not in football?

I’d like Sheikh to invest, if Man.City is any indicator on how they are ready to run the club and invest it would be great for Liverpool.

  • Paul says:

    If we get £20 million , plus sell – Riera £7 million , Auerlio – FREE , Benayoun – 8 million , Babel £10 million , Gerrard – £30 million , Degan £2 million , Plessis – £2 million , El Zhar – £2 million , Nemeth £2 million , Spearing £2 million , Intandje – £2 million , TOTAL – £67 million , pls £20 off the board, – call it £90 million
    Bring in :
    Tawio – £12 million
    Richards – £7 million
    Parker – £8 million
    Turan – £15 million
    Mata – £17 million
    J.Cole – Free
Van der Vart – £10 million
    Jovanovic – FREE
    Higuin – £22 million

  • redmal says:

Paul and others who are listing palyers, etc. Dream on. Nobody is going to buy Liverpool at the inflated price these cowboys want. At £500m it’s overpriced by about £200m. Add the cost of paying off the debt, buying the players we haven’t been buying and funding a stadium. There will be a squadron of pigs over the Mersy before that happens. Hicks and Gillett have totally screwed Liverpool. They bought the club using borrowed money, have put nothing into it, and now are holding out for a ridiculous price. Even if they are eventually forced to sell for lower, they will still lose nothing of their own money, and have taken substantial amounts out in ‘expenses’. they have a lot to be grateful to Moores and Parry for.

  • Bobbie M says:

really lads to be honest there is money out there we have the new chairman and financial advisor they will sort out the potential buyers and will make sure they are legit , Rafa is the man to lead us forward where were we before him think back exactly nowhere we may be back to square one but he will get us out of this my faith is in lfc come on the reds
