Reds Targeting Brazilian striker?

|

Rory Smith in the Daily Telegraph is reporting that Liverpool may be interested in signing Brazilian striker Diego Tardelli from Atletico Mineiro. The 25 year old has been on top form in Brazil’s top league this season after scoring 19 goals in 33 appearances and the Brazilian club have slapped a £6million price tag on his head. Tardelli has played in Europe before after previous loan spells with Real Betis and PSV Eindhoven between 2006 and 2007 but he was never a prolific goalscorer. He moved from Sao Paulo to Flamengo in 2008 but in 16 appearances he didn’t score once and he was quickly sold to Atletico last year where he has found his goalscoring touch. His performances attracted the attention of Brazil coach Dunga who has placed him on the reserve list for Brazil’s World Cup squad. If Rafa Benitez is looking for a relatively cheap striking option, Tardelli certainly looks like a possibility.
