Reds Targeting Turkish International?

|

IM Scouting and Givemefootball.com are both linking Liverpool with a move for CSKA Moscow midfielder Caner Erkin. The Turkish international has been on loan at Galatasaray for the past season but the Turkish club have failed to take up their option to buy the player making him available for transfer to other clubs. Erkin was somewhat of a teenage sensation a few years ago back in Turkey and made his debut for the national side back in 2006 when he was just 17 after making his way through the youth ranks of the national setup. He played for Manisapor before moving to CSKA Moscow for £3.5m in 2007.

Erkin, who can play as a left winger or wing back, initially had a good start to his life in Russia and during his two year spell, he played in seven Champions League matches and won two Russian Super Cups, but he was loaned back to his native Turkey this season. Under Frank Rijkaard at Galatasaray, Erkin started the season being used as a sub for left back Hakan Balta but his greater attacking abilities persuaded the Dutch coach to use him on the left hand side of midfield. According to the sites, Erkin could be available for €4million and they say both the Reds and Espanyol are interested in the player.

Another guy available on the cheap… I guess that’s our lot for this summer, unless we can sell some fringe players for decent money.
