City beat Liverpool to Swindon youngster

|

Liverpool have lost out to Manchester City in the race for Swindon youngster Alex Henshall. The England Under 16 midfielder had been in talks with a few clubs, including Liverpool, but the youngster decided to sign for the Manchester club. Despite seemingly focusing on bringing in some of the most expensive players in the world to the club, City are still looking to compete for the best youngsters in the country and Henshall has been signed for an undisclosed fee from the Robins. Swindon chairman Andrew Fitton told BBC Radio Wiltshire:

“They have come up with a deal which is good for all parties. We’ve been approached by a number of Premiership sides and that includes a discussion with Liverpool.”

Swindon have had good relations with the Reds in the past, with goalkeeper Jamie Stephens being bought by Liverpool from the Robins only a couple of months ago. Stephen Darby also spent the final stages of last season on loan at the County Ground so it is a surprise that City won out over the Merseyside club.

I think the club not having a manager and the owners selling or not selling (if you get my drift).I think we have to sort out so much before we can compete for the best young talent. ie develop a few players to prove that its worth coming to anfield
