Rumour Mill: Barca reignite £30m move for Reds midfielder

|

Barcelona are ready to reignite their interest in Liverpool midfielder Javier Mascherano, according to the Daily Mirror. The paper is reporting they are prepared to pay £30million for the player and believe they can land the Argentinean captain, who is reportedly unsettled at the club and will consider his future after the World Cup. Mascherano has in recent months stated his disappointment at not joining Barca last summer when their initial overtures were rebuffed by the Anfield club, and with Rafa Benitez now having left Merseyside, Mascherano is said to be keen to leave Liverpool. The paper believes the imminent sale of defensive midfielder Yaya Toure to Manchester City for £25million will be the catalyst for the move and Barca coach Pep Guardiola, who is a keen admirer of Mascherano, believes the 26 year old Argentinean would be the ideal like for like replacement.

sell to the highest bidder – we paid £20m for him when he couldn’t even get on to the pitch for relegation fodder; a £30m sell on fee should be regarded as a minimum!

    value him at least 40Million.

On his day Mascherano is the best defensive midfielder in the world, but if his heart is not in it playing for our beloved club, he should be sold for a minimum of £30m or to the highest bidder. And then we should replace him with two good/holding midfielders as Lucas ain’t a holding midfielder and is honestly not good enough to wear the shirt. And if Mascherano goes,we need that shield in front of the back four.

And if we receive £30-35m from the sale, the new manager should be able to bring in :

Flamini of A.C Milan for £10m
And bring back Momo Sissoko from Juventus for £12m
And bring in Stephen Ireland for £8m.

And then we can have brought more quantity and quality for the £30-£35m if Mascherano is sold.
