Hodgson: Youngsters will get their chance

|

Liverpool manager Roy Hodgson has stated that Liverpool’s reserve and young players will get their opportunities in the coming weeks in both the Europa League and friendlies as the club’s star players recover from the World Cup. He said:

“Even players like Jovanovic and Kyrgiakos, who have joined us here for a few days, the sports science people are encouraging me not to play them because they think it’s too early. It’s going to be a young and reserve type team, but it’s a good chance for those lads. If you want to show you’re a first-team player, you’ve got to be given a chance some time. They’re going to get their chance.”

The Reds are due to play their first competitive match against either FC Rabotnicki of Macedonia or FC Mika of Armenia on July 29th in the third qualifying round of the Europa League.
