Liverpool are looking at the possibility of bringing in Sampdoria left back Reto Ziegler to Anfield, according to the Italian media. The 24 year old has had a spell in the Premier League before with Tottenham Hotspur but he failed to impress as a left winger. Since joining Sampdoria in 2007 though, he has been converted into a left full back, a position that the Reds are currently lacking in at the moment after the depature of Fabio Aurelio. Ziegler has impressed during Sampdoria’s Serie A campaign last season when the Genoa club finished fourth in the league to gain the final Champions League spot. The Swiss left back also impressed for Switzerland during the World Cup as they conceded just one goal in three group matches, beating Spain in the process.

Hodgson is reported to be lining up a £15 million joint bid for two of Real Madrid’s Dutch players, namely attacking midfielder Rafael van der Vaart and left-back Royston Drenthe, according to Dutch football magazine Elf Voetbal.Anyway,Drenthe or Ziegler,a good LB is badly needed,Taiwo of OM is also good.
We do not need a left back. Insua is more than suited for that role. Our priority is to get rid of players who are surplus to requirements, players like Lucas, Aquilani, Riera, and get us some decent wingers. We do not need another striker. Just move Kuyt back to his original role.
need a left back. insua needs to learn from someone more experienced. need some attack minded players, who can create opportunities. 3 attacking mid/ wing forwards. move stevie back along with masch, if he stays! and a decent back up striker. we can’t unfortunately buy any of these players, cos once again we have to sell first.

I would also bring in VdV, so we won’t be so predictable in the offensive part of our game, if Gerrard gets injured (when Gerrard’s not injured, VdV can play on the left wing).
Sell Riera, Lucas and Benayoun (already done) for a combined fee of about £20 mill. (and hopefully Hodgson can use £2-3 mill from that, if the bloody yanks is still in charge).
Then we can make a shot at Joe Cole, if he’s still available(?).

Taiwo is a beast, Drenthe is also good and doesn’t get a fair crack of the wip, also look at the portugese lad coentrao but i’d rather have Taiwo first.
Get rid of Masch he doesn’t want tobe here, maybe a cheeky bid for dejong.

Cambiasso and/or Balotelli (yes, the troublemaker, but still a raw talent) in return wouldn’t be too bad, Sneijder would be a dream, and it would most certainly stay that way, but it’s not illegal to hope.
Anyways, I don´t thionk we will get a very big difference in our playing style, as Hodgson has only shown great defensive work in his previous (at least where he has been successful) clubs. But, I could always be wrong (hope so).
Also hope that that Peter Bruckner (or whatever his name is?) can help Torres get rid of his injury problems. Heard that he is one of the best in “curing” cases such as Torres.
Anyway, it’ll be a very exciting time ahead for us Reds-supporters. 🙂
sell two more players: riera and masch, sign this player or another good left back (kolarov, taiwo), sign vdv, we should be set for next season. perhaps a top center half would be welcomed.

We need a top left-back – no doubt. Insua is not tactically aware. Silvynho maybe? He’s on a free. I’d love 2 c Joe Cole in a reds shirt – also free. Paul Bishop – the lad’s name is David Amoo and he is quality. Watched him in the academy since we poached him from Milwall 3 yrs ago. Imo he should have already had a shot at the first team. Hangelaand would b a good signing, or maybe Kjaer? Or both?! Remember we have Agger and Skrtel. Get rid of Masch, Lucas, Rieira, Insua then buy VdV, a striker and a young left-back 2.
