Mr Broughton: Tell us the truth!!

|

With ever greater amounts of speculation regarding Liverpool’s top players and their roles within our club, the alarming details that some of the players were being touted or being sold to clubs in the interim period beggars belief.

The Statements thatwere made in the press by Martin Broughton prior to the appointment of Roy Hodgson that no players were to be or needed to be sold prior to the new season, seem a sham with Yossi Benayoun comments in the weekends newspapers that a deal was already done with Chelsea after Rafa Benitez had departed.

It seems Hodgson`s hands were tied from an early stage of his tenure and now we are being linked to what I would call “b” players, the latest being Paul Scharner, a player released by Wigan, yes Wigan, not Juventus or Barcelona, to join on a free transfer.

Further transfers are now expected in the upcoming weeks with Emiliano Insua, Lucas Leiva, Javier Mascherano, David Ngog, Diego Cavalieri and a few of the youngsters confirmed that clubs are making bids on our players and that talks are at a advanced stage with at least three of these.

Presumably Hodgson is overseeing these and is allowing the players to hold talks with other clubs and as much as I am not a great admirer of a couple players in our squad, the fact is most of these have played roles over the last two years. Liverpool’s poor season can be apportioned to most of the above mentioned squad for last years performances, but the team is made up of 16 players every week and everyone should hold their hand up and admit to playing poor, and that includes Stevie Gerrard.

With so many players destined to be allowed to leave the one real big question is still looming, who is running our club?

Was Hodgson employed to start the re-building work we so desperately need to make our club great again or was he just another yes man with no real proven Premiership credentials that will eventually take all the flak when the s**t hits the fan.

£15 million was originally set aside for new players, but we will need a minimum of £50 million to replace letting go 6 or 7 players, plus this will not allow us the time to provide substance and depth to try and sustain a challenge to get back into the top four this year; we need to consolidate and build with possibly integrating a few youngsters into the squad, not bring in over age nobody’s who are worse then what we have already.

With 5 weeks to the start of the season, can someone from the club please come forward and tell us the truth, Mr Broughton you have came out with some encouraging comments at the press conference when introducing Roy to Liverpool which gave us hope of a new beginning, now you need to prove that the blue Chelsea blood that you have has not affected your so called running of our team and that the money generated is not given straight back to the yanks.

Tell the supporters the real truth!

Samual Charles – my head hurts! You probably have some good opinions, but your grammar and punctuation is so bad I was lost after the first sentence (* in fact I’m sure sure where the first sentence ended!)

Anyway, there’s clearly more going on at the club than any of us know, but lets just wait and see how Roy gets on before panicking and slating him. I read a comment somewhere else that Roy wasn’t fighting if the club wanted to sell players that he didn’t want and was saving his battles for players that he wanted – lets hope so….

I dont see that the transfer budget is there at all the sales of Benayoun San Jose Voronin and Dossena adds up to 15 near 15 mill.
Now these players havent been replaced so if the manager was getting 15 then there should be nearly 30 mill sitting there.

I’ve heard several rumours about the whole Yossi thing. The main one of them being that his Nationality maybe problematic with Middle Eastern investment.

  • Karim says:

I think Roy is going to use a lot of the youngsters this season and why not. They will show their hungry side and want to do well.

Players like spearing, Kelly, Darby, Amoo, Ecclestone, Pacheco if he stays will give a lot more effort and fight for the cause. they also play in positions which arent necessarily key.

Spearing – CM, with Gerrard in the middle with him and potentially Banega, will give Jay the freedom to move around the pitch
Kelly – CB, forth choice behind Agger, Skrtel and Carragher
Darby can play second fiddle to Johnson at RB
Amoo is a winger who can play on either flank
Ecclestone is a decent young striker, if we can give Ngog 40 games a season then we can give this kid a chance
Pacheco is the man for the hole

darby should not even be at the club, there is no point at all in keeping players just because they fill a number.
these players need to be sold and then player need to come and take the place of the ones who have been sold to then improve on what we had.

    example.

    reira sold for turan
    babel sold for crouch
insua sold for cissohko or taiwo etc
joe cole has to be got on a free deal, why not?
mascherano to be sold, if he wants to go, then sell the little prick
mascherano = banega and van der vaart
this is the type of sales that could then generate better players coming in.

    others need to pack their stuff are;
degen, plessies, cavalerli, itandge, nemeth, spreaing, el zhar all can fuck off

Anteater you’re a fool and although you speak some sense at times you’re so biased against Rafa and only see the negative that suits your agenda. Alonso spent half his time on the bench the season before Rafa tried to sell him you idiot, and there where he got bids of 12mill one summer he sold him for 30mill the next. Don’t just twist things to suit you, be OBJECTIVE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Maybe one day you will acknowledge Rafa was class, he got us closest to the title than we’ve seen since we last won it. His ruthless management style is not far off that of Fergussen which Fergussen is praised for!!! The one BIG problem with Rafa was the press hated him, end of story. All the ignorant Liverpool fans believed the press and the rest is history.

  • anteater says:

Hodgy, if you have to abuse people, me in this case, to prove your point, then it may well be you who is the (quote) ‘fool’, ‘idiot’ and the one twisting things and having an agenda. And please be as kind as to consider that some people may not believe the press but don’t believe the doom propaganda spread around the net by some quarters of our supporters.
