Reds linked with Juve midfielder Poulsen

|

According to Tuttocalcionews.it in Italy, Liverpool are being linked with a move for Juventus’s out of favour defensive midfielder Christian Poulsen. The Italian club are looking to sell one of their defensive midfield trio of Poulsen, Felipe Melo and Momo Sissoko and Poulsen is the most likely because of his sizeable wages. Poulsen is rumoured to be one of the highest earners at the club and with Luigi Del Neri reshaping the squad, the Danish international could be one of the casualties.

The purchases of new players in the summer has increased the first team squad at the “Old Lady” to over 30 players and with Poulsen not in the new manager’s plans, he will be let go to lower the numbers. The Reds are reportedly interested, according to the website, if Javier Mascherano does leave for Inter Milan and the midfielder could be seen as an ideal replacement. Known for his no-nonsense style, the 30 year old has had a very good career and was the lynchpin in the Sevilla side that won two UEFA Cups before Juventus purchased the player 2 years ago for €9.75million. He has however struggled for a first team place during his time in Italy and could be available for a cut price deal. Tuttocalcionews has also speculated that Dirk Kuyt could be offered in a swap deal for the player although Juve would surely have to pay the Reds a sum of money on top of Poulsen for his services.
