Rumour Mill: Roy looking at £8m Juve striker?

|

CaughtOffside.com are reporting that Liverpool are interested in signing unwanted Juventus striker David Trezeguet. The former French international is valued at £8million by the “Old Lady” and he is one of 13 players that the Turin club are prepared to let go. According to the website, Roy Hodgson is a fan of the 32 year old and sees him as an ideal player to take the workload off Fernando Torres. The Italian newspaper La Gazzetta dello Sport has previously stated that Trezeguet is the man leading the exodus of players at Juve and he has been linked to a move to Spanish club Valencia in recent weeks. The French striker has had problems with injuries over recent seasons and was limited to just 19 league appearances last campaign, scoring seven goals.

    Swap him for Riera

  • Jay says:

no thanks – at this stage in his career, we’d be better off just sticking with N’gog…

  • Phil says:

I think he would be a quality signing but 8mil is too much. 7mil maybe and like daz said, possibly use Riera as a make-weight.

  • berno says:

Too old, pace will have gone, premiership is all about pace.

Better idea to go for Diego if we can sell Masch to Inter or Barca and offer Riera as a makeweight.

    One can dream… !!

  • daboy says:

no way he is finished washed up surely Hodgson can do better than that.

  • Gaga says:

Only a fool would buy him a his age not to mention that price. The old lady would be laughing all the way to the bank not to mention everyone will laugh at lfc and roy for buying him. I dont see any logic in that.

  • Nivster says:

No way – He’s well past it! £7 million too expensive!

  • Harry says:

Because strikers who are the wrong side of 30 have such a good record when coming to the Premier League from Serie A, don’t they?

I mean, who wouldn’t want another Andriy Shevchenko, sucking up a considerable transfer fee and a nice wage packet for 4-5 league goals per season, eh?

We have (for the moment, at least) Fernando Torres, Milan Jovanovic, David Ngog and Krisztián Németh. And, apparently, we even have a striker who’s playing for the Netherlands in Sunday’s World Cup Final called Dirk Kuyt who was described by some bloke called Johan Cruyff as “worth his weight in gold”!

Stop and think about that last part for a minute. How many other English teams can say that they’ve have TWO strikers on the pitch for any international final?

There’s a reason why Juventus don’t want David Trezeguet any more. Too old, too slow, too injured, too expensive…

  • Homer says:

If Juve are getting rid of him there’s a good reason for it…we can do better than signing players other clubs don’t want…thats for the Aston Villas and Evertons to do!!

  • YNWalkA says:

    Noooooooooooooooooo Chaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaance!!!!

  • YNWalkA says:

People……DO NOT BELIEVE ALL THIS MEDIA CRAP!!!!!!!

  • paul bishop says:

dont believe the hype anyway av heard crouch is in 4 a poss return and he will prob play kuyt bk up front and not on the rte wing

  • bad move, he is injury prone and we need a replacement for torres should he get injured during the season.

if hodgson considers this move, then bring back “GOD” robbie fowler will do a better job.

with financial constraints i can understand buying on the cheap side, but at 8 million, that’s money down the drain

  • albey says:

what the hell do we want that has been for at liverpool fc he is finished other wise juve would not be letting him go and 8 million your having a laff arnt you wouldnt pay 8 pound for him if roy starts bringing in dross like this he wont last long at liverpool football club because the reds wont go to watch second class players now crouchy yes i would like to see him back in a red shirt he should never have been allowed to leave in the first place he was what torres needed along side him and then torres would not of been injured as much

  • Karl says:

You guys dont know what your talking about…..

He is too old? HOW OLD DO YOU THINK DROGBA IS????

This guy has scored goals at every level and his record is second to none, I dont know about him adapting to the premier league, but one thing for certian is that WE NEED EXPERIENCE, even if it’s 2 seasons that will allow ngog, nemeth and paccheo time to mature before we throw them in.

  • albey says:

so we dont no what were talking about karl well if you think paying 8 million pounds for him and probably 100 thousand a week for some one 32yrs old way past his best other wise juve wouldnt be letting him go and an other thing morientes was over the hill when we brought him to lfc and what did he do so i think we no a little bit more than you may think karl . youth is the way forward not has beens
